welcome summer
It’s official! With the summer solstice occurring on Sunday, June 21st we can say that it’s summer.
So what’s with all the rain?
While frustrating, it’s a good opportunity for me to follow Pema’s instructions, “when we want to complain about the rain, we could feel it’s wetness instead.” But as I got caught in the rain, again, all I could do was whine and wince at its wetness and coldness, and be extremely grateful that I was on my way home. The resistance to things we have no control over — how do we work with our resistance to life? Pema asks us to slow down, to examine and look closely at what is happening around us and in our very own minds. We can have the same resistance to trying a new practice or taking a new teacher’s class or “watching our mind.” There is always an opportunity to practice under the umbrella or not.
New Teachers to Mala, but not to teaching! Check out Cari F. and Marisa S. this week at Mala, both phenomenal teachers who we are very grateful to have at Mala. Go to the Schedule page to see when they’re teaching.
