TARA GLAZIER
Favorite poses:
pinca mayruasana/ forearm stand
i love how this pose brings me right into my heart. lately i found a new lightness and buoyancy. i love being totally balanced upside down without the support of the wall. it gives me a sense of accomplishment and empowerment since balancing used to seem impossible. now it seems more effortless than ever.
Most embarrassing yoga moment:
John Friend (the creator of Anusara Yoga) coming up to me during a workshop, asking a question, and me being so speechless, that give him the total wrong answer.
Teaching inspiration:
I find my inspiration for teaching in the everyday and all around me as well as from the various cultures and diverse places i visit through my travels. i am continually finding yoga in everything and everywhere. lately i have found so much inspiration in my newest passion, salsa dancing. partner dance is a lovely conversation between the leader and follower. just like yoga is a beautiful dance between breath and ourselves. i found that allowing myself to be led is one of the most challenging things. our practice on the mat is very much the same. first, we want to allow for a softening and an opening of ourselves to me led, to be held, to be supported. once we allow ourselves to be breathed the body will respond in a whole new way. in salsa, the follower has to open to receive and flexible enough to whatever comes their way. then how the dancers create something beautiful, something harmonious, together— that is yoga.
Next week we will introduce you to more of our lovely substitute teachers who are teaching this summer and, to our assistants who many of you already know well, so stay tuned…….
